i am currently in college and my car i want next is a mustang cobra 96-98. my buddy had one for his first car and i had the privledge to drive it around quite a few times and really loved it. like all college kids, i dont have all the money in the world to blow on a car.
i found a verrry clean 96 red cobra with 130k miles on it.

what kind of reliability does the cobra have and is it worth buying?

Depends on how the previous owner(s) took care of it. I purchased a used 96 GT about a year and a half ago knowing it was in "fair" shape with 114,000 miles on it...body was straight and looked good, but have spent close to $7,000 over that year and a half getting things fixed...most of which I have done myself...I hate to think what it would have cost having to take it to a mechanic or worse, the dealer. The car now has over 160,000 and runs like a bat out of hell...I just keep the oil changed regularly (Mobile 1), and make sure all the fluids are where they should be on a regular basis.

haha yeah its worth it, but its only worth it if it runs well. why pay that much when ur gonna put that much again into it. 10k for a 130k mile cobra? doesnt add up right. thats why im askin about how well the cobra motor stands up with high miles

Different motors last different lenghts of time. I havent heard anything bad about the longetvity of the cobra motor. I know the sohc 4.6 is supposed to last forever.(why police use them, reliability)
