As my list of people I know overseas grows and my travel plans become more real, I've grown curious on GSM cell phones. Does anyone own one and if so, what kind??? There's a sweet one on www.woot.com that I want to buy but I need my money and travel doesn't start till this summer so I was thinkin' of waiting.
It's $160 for a $570 phone (amazon) but there's this Siemens M65 (SWEET! (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://gandhiappliances.com/IMMAGE/products/m65.png&imgrefurl=http://gandhiappliances.com/gsm.asp%3FCategoryID%3D17&h=400&w=318&sz=323&tbnid=MWMWj2WiEJAJ:&tbnh=120&tbnw=95&hl=en&start=2&prev=/images%3Fq%3DSiemens%2BM65%2BUnlocked%2BTriband%2B Phone%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26hs%3D8IY%26lr%3D%26 safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26sa%3DN)) That I really want 'cause well, it seems good. Just wanted opinions, figuring, it's worldwide forum, so someone's gotta know something.
Thanks!

Thanks for clearing that up. I've got 2 Nokia 6800 GSM phones. After reading his post, I thought that I got screwed, because mine are just normal fucking mobile phones with SIM cards. :D

Try http://www.phonescoop.com/, look at the different phones and they will tell you if they are world phone compatible or not. Check out the "Modes" category to see if it will work (if you click the "Modes" on the pages of the phone, it will explain it to you). It also has customer reviews for each phone.
When I used to sell Cingular phones, I'd go to that site to get the info on phones (much more info there than what I was given by the phone manufacturer or cingular).

My phone is quad band. Will work anywhere in the world there is signal - Sony Ericcson K750i - I highly recommend looking into it.
