lincoln hesitation

I have a 1986 town car, 69,000 miles on it. problem I am having is when I am in overdrive and not pushing the engine, every now and then seem to get a hesitation. If I push it, doesn't happen. Seems like the engine slows for a half second and can happen multable times, hard to tell if its the engine or maybe its dropped to 3rd and kicked back up to overdrive. Its driving me crazy. Your help would be appreciated if anyone has experienced this before.

Let's try mechanical first: Check the TV Bushing on the throttle body to make sure it's not worn and the TV cable isn't loose. Next, make sure your fluid level is correct and that the fluid is clean. If not, flush it and the torque convertor and then refill plus add a bottle of Lub-Gard RED Label. If there are signs of engine hesitation, I'd say plugs, wires, fuel filter MAP sensor or clogged EGR channels. Good luck and let us know how you made out!

I don't know about the rest of you die-hards here, but for me, it burns my ass when the OP never comes back with a response.

Did hizhonor's advice have any effect on the problem?
Maybe we we're looking for a cheaper solution, and still looking?

Well, for anyone who needs it, here's the Motorcraft number for the TV Bushing. It's brass and won't wear away like the plastic one that's causing all the problems out there. F3SZ-7H303-B Transmission Throttle Valve bushing

As far as YOUR 93 ... try cleaning ( just spraying with electrical contact cleaner and letting dry thoroughly) your MAF sensor. It's right behind the air filter box on top of the silver tube. You'll need a #10 Security Torx Bit to get the screws out. If that doesn't solve the problem then you need to have the EGR channels cleaned. At 130K, if it's never been done, that could be the culprit.
