Group Buy: lambo doors

Alright im trying to get a group buy going for lambo doors for 5th and 6th gen celicas. The price will be $800 per kit for 5 - 9 kits and a lower price is beeing worked out for 10 + kits. There is a lifetime warrenty on parts so that should put to rest the worries of the kits wearing out.

The more people we get the better the price that can be offered so lets get this thing rolling.

Post here or PM me or im me (AIM SN: Daklieb) if you have any question and ill try and get them answered as quickly as possible.

the website for the kits is http://tiecc.net/vertdoors/9093celi.html

dont worry there is a kit for 6th gens as well its just not up on the website yet

Hey if anyone wants to know about this kit I have one, I have not installed it and will probably just sell it but if you want to see pictures or anything I have them. They are well done and it is worth the money. I could post pics, just don't want to thread jack.

I need some money right now and lots of people will pay me more than I paid for the kit, so I may just go for that, and since I know Harry, from tiecc, I'll be able to get a good price later on if I want another one.

Parts sales go in "Classified" anyway. I'll let the group buy stay here.

As long as you're not making a profit off of it and it benefits alot of people, it's fine.

Hope it works out for everyone.

This thread may be moved to "Classified" if there are some complaints about me letting stay here.

thats the plan the more people the better the price for everyone

you know... if we got measurements off of a set of those hinges we could produce our own for little of nothing, all you would need aside from metal and bolts, would be a set of probably 50 - 90 pound lift pistons

daklieb
09-20-2005, 12:08 AM
haha you wish

the pistons they use for the kits cost 400 alone... they are rated at 750 pounds you need at least that to lift the doors

daklieb
09-20-2005, 12:09 AM
not to mention to cost of metal is well over several hundred

if you know a machine shop they can do it for pretty cheap as long as you have the plans for them. Don't know about the lifts

daklieb

i had an hour long conversation with harry you arent going to be able to do this kit for cheap like you think trust me... at least not anywhere near the quality of the ones he makes...

i dont want any, but i know several people that could make those from scratch in a week or two.

dont see why ud need 750 lb ones. doors dont weigh that much. im sure that theres plenty of people who can make them with just as good quality.

I work at a machine shop and it wouldnt be that hard to reproduce those hinges as long as i had all the specs and dimensions. They could be made to fit all generations if i had the car specs also. I'll see about it at work tonight to see if I can use the bridgeport if u guys are serious. I want a set for my fourth gen and have been searching the web for a few pics and dimensions so i can make my own.

as well as whoring the thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours that harry and his team put into making thoes kits

The struts have to be able to hold up alot of weight because they don't have good leverage on the door so that they will be out of the way of people using the door. The closer they are attached toward the hinge pivot, the more force they have to use to hold up the door.

They have to be matched to the strut mount point as well as the weight of the door.

You can make them cheap, fast or sharp looking/well engineered. But you can only get two of the three, not all three.

daklieb

thank you for backing me up there... much research has been put into the correct lifting power of the strut and 750 is what is needed

Brian R.

They also look well-designed and thought-out. You better have something well designed unless you want the strut or hinge to fail and the door fall on your leg. Those things are dangerous if poorly done.

the problem is they do not make them for everyone that wants them, only the year models they choose, its just like everything else, you go past a certain year, and they quit making aftermarket parts for cars, I cannot find body kits for mine, because its an 87, I can't find much of anything performance wise for an 87 because no one makes it, if you want it, you have to have it custom made, hence why we want to make the hinges, thats my reason atleast, and a machinest could easily make exact, and I do mean exact duplicates of the high dollar kits, the only thing he can't copy is the lift rod, but there are those of us that want the kit, like me, I would like it but they don't make it for mine, sorry if we are whoring your thread, but its the truth

I think your statements belong in a thread of their own. They have nothing to do with his getting people together for a high-quality hinge kit. His kit will not work on your car, so don't bother. There are too many differences in geometry.

I'm just trying to correct what the thread had turned into, it is a great deal though, and maybe he could get enough people together to get the price down even lower, I hope he does, and I hope everything works out

daklieb

there is a kit for the 5th and 6th gens and harry said he would be willing to make a kit for the 4th gens all he needs are 5 fourth gens and a donor car in FL, who will get this kit for $500...

jwaj2002
09-21-2005, 07:02 PM
he can borrow mine, but he will have to come get it, its in arkansas though, mine lets just say may not see the road for several years anyway

WHOA, I didn't mean for these pics to start a RIOT. Harry and his guys did an excellent job on this kit. They took a lot of time to put it together and I cannot stand for a bunch of people tryin to rip off his stuff. So no one even bother asking me for dimensions or anything. The pics are gone now too cuz I don't want you to do this and screw him over. I have dealt with him a lot and trust me he is honest about the cost of the kits. The labor alone to manufacture them was worth more than this. I don't mean to continue whoring this thread, i am just lettin you know the TIECC kit is awesome and no one should try and rip them off.

anyone interested in this kit?

daklieb

where did all the 4th gens go if you want a kit so bad there can be one made at the same quality of the 5th and 6th gen kits

I don't want one if I have to pay that much for it. Thanx for the offer though but I got 2 kids and a wife to put through school so I'm a broke azz. I've designed my own and when I get a chance, I'll make them at work. thanx anyways though
