Crawl underneath your dash and follow your brake pedal up, you will find a switch adjust that switch so the switch fully closes when your take your foot off the brake pedal and your problem will be gone.

If that didn't fix it...are you talking about the actual rear lights or the one on the dash? The dash is mainly caused by low brake fluid. Just a suggestion.

no its the dash light that says 'brake lamp' and the owners manual says it only come on when the brake lights are out, but im takin it in to the shop next weekend, ill get it checked out then.

I have a light bulb that loses its connection every so often, resulting in my Brake Lamp light to come on too (89 prelude) but it only goes out for maybe a split second or whatever, but the brake lamp light stays on even when its back on, turning the car off and on fixes it usually.
I doubt this will help, but maybe you have a slightly loose connection to one of ur bulbs, so that when you turn your car on, it thinks a bulbs out, even if it comes back on

With what your describing , and call me nuts but dose'nt that mean that your brake pads are worn out......
