just curious on how long you all have owned your civics, what kinda shape was when you bought it and how much you paid for it when bought it. here is mine:
i bought my Civic in March 2001 at a the local Toyota dealership for $1,500 cash. the car had 163,000 miles on it and was terrible looking. it had the stock 13" steal rims on it, the little 1.5L SOHC motor BARELY and i mean BARELY ran on 3 cylinders. the interior was just as nasty. the previous owner must have used the car for some kinda place that housed cats or something because the interior had cat hair all in it AND had cat urine stains and the horrible stench of cats. talk about nasty, i spent a WHOLE week cleaning that mess up after i bought the car to get the cat urine out (it was bitch to get that out..talk about GROSS) and the smell too. i dont know how many of those damn scented trees i used just so it would smell "clean" every time i opened the door (had to let it sit for a month before i could drive it because i didnt have a license-thats another story). now that cat hair is different story, to this day i am still getting that shit out the carpets. its that bad. i think the best thing for me to do is just to completely take the carpet out....anyways what about you alls Civics??

Well I got my little shopping cart in November of I think 99.
It was yet another used import from Japan, and after looking at mostly Toyotas I took it for a drive for the hell of it, and decieded that I simply had to have it. NZ$7,500 later and it was mine. (thats about US$3,000 :D )
It had 90,000kms on it when I got it, and has over 155,000ks on it now.
At about 110,000ks it had the cam belt done. and at about 140,000ks the orginal clutch went.
And just recently (I got it going agian yesterday) I replaced the Synchro on 3rd and 4th. The selector was badly worn, and the 3rd gear itself also had to be replaced. (I got the last one in the country, possibly the world, gotta love Honda NZ buying all the parts Honda Japan was throwing away).
The car is totaly stock, Im more than happy with the way Honda set it up to begin with. About the only similarity it has with any other EF model is the Basic body shell. :finger:

I got my Civic back in April 2001, I had been looking for some kinda hatch for months, and i got it from Ellersile Car Fair.
The only reason he was selling it was his wife couldn't drive manual (He'd only had it 2 months, before that some Old Man owned it). My civic in NZ New, and it has 54,000 kms on it. So $4200 later I purchased it.

I got my crx si back in November ' 99 from a mechanic. He was asking 3800 obo. I got him down to 3600. I know i know its still kinda high but he wouldn't go any lower. The body was in almost good condition with just a lil bit rust. It had 94,000 miles on it. The body is still an "ok" condition ...the rust is getting worse and i have to get it fixed soon! To tell you the truth i hated crx's back then. My friend had an auto rex dx. We passed by this one shop and all my friends was like "HOLY SHIT ITS AN SI!!" I was like "big whoa!" . Then i tried it out and it was pretty damn quick for that lil honda and so i got it like 3 weeks later. I was so into nissans back then and vr4's:) Oh sorry about the long post.:finger:

Finally decided on getting a Civic Hatchback. So I looked in the paper for a while and magically a white Hatch pops up and I thought it was this one I had seen around but it wasn't. But I went to look at it and it was kind of a piece but I liked it so I decided to buy it. Then it was uninspected and was a nightmare. It got a new bushing in the back before I bought it. Then for some reason the car wouldn't start one day. So then we got it started finally and I drove it to the inspection place. Well there it wouldn't start again. Then went I was on the edge of not getting it because the mechanic said it needed a new $350 fuel pump, which it did not because after some fuel cleaner it started right up and ran fine for a while after that. So the day came and I bought it and drove this pos home to show all my friends and my girlfriend who hated it and said it was ugly (I dumped her later on, but not because of that, I am not that shallow, but my woman must at least tolerate my car). So I drove it for 6 days before my dumbass hit something and fucked up my bumper, crossmember, and front filler panel (all of which I have replaced myself so I think that makes up for my mistake, CF Hood $440, Cross Member $40, Front Filler $55). Then a week later the alternator died, that was $350. This car was beginning to seem like the devil. So then I eventually installed a new Battery, new Wires, new Plugs, new Starter, and have had no problems with my car since except it died one last time Feb because the Dist Rotor came off, but that was probably my fault since for some reason at 9:30 at night I got the idea to install one in pitch dark, so I take the blame for that. So my car is solid now and I love it. The only thing I hate is it has rust on the 1/4s which bothers me a lot but it looks like mostly or all surface which can be fixed and then repainted.

Like moppie, I bought the SiR already imported. It had 180,000kms on it and is well over the 210,000km mark now with no major issues other than the idle running too high. No smoke or oil loss, gearbox is fine despite me doing 1600km interstate trips as well as running it to 8000rpm redline a lot of the time.
Only mods are a re-usable air filter for the factory filter box and Jamex suspension to raise the ride height as it was too bumpy with the JDM lowered springs and shocks.
Other than that, it's fitted with central locking, climate control, power steering, power windows, power mirrors and the factory SiR interior/B16A/Y1 etc ;)

Cool Post!
I bought my Civic in 96 from a guy who was selling it to get a BMW. His wife drove it to work and parked it in the garage. Mint shape just 1 small ping on the door. The Civic had 30,000 miles on it, and was a Auto DX, now it is a manual Trans, Turbo ZC. I bought the car in 96 for 7,000. :flash:

well I bought the CRX in december 2000 for 1000$ cash from a buddie of mine who just lost his job and needed money for Christmas presents for his girlfriend. it looked like this http://members.rogers.com/dlsp/crx1.jpg
I finaly towed it home in january and started collecting parts it needed to get fixed.
I started with Slotted power slot Rotors, H&R Springs, Pacesetter exaust, 4 Brake Calipers, Ball Joint, Hood releace cable, Windshield, Alternator, moonroof panel...
once done it looked like thishttp://members.rogers.com/dlsp/before_paint.jpg and that was mid march 2001.
That summer I saved my money up to have her painted and desided to paint her Electron Blue Pearl. found a Guy at a shop who was ready to fix her up, six weeks later she was EPB and sweet looking.
A cracked exaust manifold got me to replace it with a nice 4-2-1 and free flow cat in mid summer. Poli bushings were also added.
In september The blue smoke that was comming out of the car was gettin real bad and desided to get it looked at... it turned out to be a bad cylinder (bad ring scratched the cylinder wall to shit) and needed to be rebuilt... I got on the phone and ordred me in a ZC DOHC and had it droped in. http://members.rogers.com/dlsp/CRX-112201.jpg
now since then not alot has changed I have added some strut towers, clear bumper lights, Walbro Fuel Pump, B&M short shifter, 5Zigen Exaust... My rims Should be in next week and i'll have picture up of those... this is how the car look right now.http://members.rogers.com/dlsp/REX0117-04-02.jpg

I bought my first hatch somewhere in 1999. It was my first car and it was a 1.3L single carb. with only 120000km, slow as shit but a great car.
That car got stolen in front of my house so I bought no.2 a '90 1.5i GL (DX) had a great time with that car but It was getting serious rust issues and I wanted some more power so I started looking at another hatch. An (EDM) SiR wasn't really an option for me untill I saw one at a dealership all alone put away in a little corner, from the moment I saw it I knew it was waiting for me and I had to have it
I have had it for 4 months now, and gonna keep this car for life! :D

I bought my CRX in 1996 at the local toyota dealership too. It had just under 50,000 miles on it and was rust free. there was no interior damage, motor ran perfect and the paint was immaculate, the only problem i noticed was the rear hatch hydro's were shot, but toyota replaced them free of charge. I paid $5000 for it, and i thought that was a lot for the car, but i went to www.KBB.com and it was listed on there for over $9000, so i got a good deal.

I just bought mine last december, 2001, and ive had a blast. Although its a auto i want to save some money this summer and see if i can find a ZC to swap in their and really see what my car can do.
I bought it from a classified ad, went to see it and was in love at first sight. Only 192k miles, first owner so he said, and it was really taken care of. It ran damn good before i bought it. I get it home and 4 days later my battery mysteriously died on me, replaced that, and watched that one die on me. My alternator had decieded to crap out on me just after i bought the thing. 400 dollars later i have a new factory cert alternator. I then take it in cause my brakes felt funny, and low and behold i need new brakes, more money spent and new brakes installed. Just this week my engine check light went on, after doing checking myself, i couldnt figure out what was causeing the damn light to come on. Visiting my mechanic again, testing the hell outa my engine, 80 bucks for that, my oxygen sensor needs replacing cause the wiring was butchered to peices for some aftermarket sensor that seems to be failing me now. The car has 195 almost 196k miles on it, and granted the stock engine is a bit weak for the hills i commute in, i really enjoy driving my car. Maybe i might make enough this summer to do some serious work on her.
Sorry for the long post ... hehe ... i tend to rattle on ...

I got mine with just over 100K miles about a year ago for 1800. It was in good shape considering the miles and was a one owner car. After my Impala SS got totaled I needed somthing to get me around. Well, my fater told me about a red 1989 Civic Si he saw for sell, at a yard sell lol. Any ways he said it was nice and the next day I was there with the cash to buy it. The plan was to sell it once I bought somthing else. Well after buying my Porsche 911 I decided to keep the Si as the dailty driver. It's been a great car.

Well like little over 2 years ago i was looking to upgrade from my 88 hyundia excel. Then my friend told me how they made all these bodykits for hondas and i was like cool. Hence i went lookin for a ricemobile (yes i was becomming a ricer) and found a little red 88 DX 5 speed. So i had if for that summer, put some small yellow stickers, window tint, axel back exhaust (muffin shooter) and began lookin for more things to do to it, then i heard about this thing called "autocrossing".
Well after going, checking it out, and gettin a ride in a very fast 3rd gen RX7 i was never the same man again. So from that fall to next year i readied the car for battle and spent a good year behind the wheel doding cones, gaining mods, etc. MUCH more fun than ricing it out. One year after my first ride in that RX7, i was on my way to school and came upon a tree cuttin crew that was in the rain and had no signs up and were located on a corner. Well the brakes on the DX locked up and i slammed into a 86 dually flatbed chevy truck. I was fine but the civic seemed like it was done for.
Called my friend at his shop and asked him if he knew any other 4th gens i could transfer parts too. He said he might have known a DX that was comming in for 500 bucks it was either red or white and a 5 speed. I wanted a Si SOOO badly now that i knew what they were but i said whatever works i need a car. 2 days later, he called me all excited. The civic in question was not a red or white DX but a Black Si, and it was still only 500 bucks! So i went to look at it and took it for a drive. It needed alot of work and love, but you could tell the car had life in it so i gave it a shot. The deal was in exhange for moving the parts from the DX to the Si, i gave my shop friend my DX in return. He had the hooks ups to repair it.
As of today, my DX is now a ITC road racing car that had a very succesful year last year regionally and is doing even better this year. I took my Si with all my old DX parts and many other additions autocrossing last year, and won 3rd overall in my class and "Most improved driver" in it, so i can't complain. Here is a pic of my old DX and my Si together once again :)

I got my 88 DX for $1000 in november of 2000. i bought it for my 18th bday. It had 186000 on it and was a one owner car with all the records. Didnt satrt modding it until about halfway through last year. ended up blowing my headgasket at about 204,000 and cracked my block and head.... since i had no money and that was my only car...I had to replace it with a 30,000 mile used engine from a place in berkely. only $275 for a stock engine... :). Now its a 30,000 mile 88 civic with a 2 inch drop ( i think...if not its more than 2 inches), a homemade intake, and custom catback exhaust.
Note to everyone out there....Always bleed the coolant system when you refill a drianed cooling system...i learned the hard way =|

Hehe thank you. If I wanna be picky I got 2nd in my class really (the car the got 2nd place ran some illegal mods most of the year) but if your gonna race i'd rather win on skill not cheating. I don't have any more money for mods right now the car is dead due to disturbtor problems (yea I have a post on it someplace hehe) i have a week before the next race I should be ok by then. As for recent sucess I got 2nd last week that ain't to shabby (there is a GSR piloted by a good friend of mine damn he's fast, he owns first place lol). As for my friend in my old DX, well he broke the track record for his class last weekend...funny...my old DX is faster than my Si...damnit lol. Ah well, btw I was laughing at your sig, the thing about paint. I repainted both cars, my DX was milano red ( you can see some of it on the back half) and my Si is nighthawk black pearl (ITR black hehe).

I bought my CR-X Si about a year ago, and it was bone stock..the rims didn't even have hubcaps, there was a spoiler on the back and dog hair throughout the interior. The gearknob was chewed to bits and the right front guard had some serious dents where a garage door fell on it. From there it evolved into the beast it is today.
(oh yeah, and I bought it from a nice chick who ended up 'hanging out' with me for ages...he he;))

I have heard some stories over the history of my car...It was bought brand new by a guy who worked at a honda dealership, who slid it into a wall and messed up the back end. Then this other guy bought it and fixed it, had some tint on it and an intake. Then he traded it to one of my friends for a 12 sec awd talon + cash. Then that guy traded the civic to my other friend for his 93 mustang gt. Then my jetta got smashed into (I only had it for a month) so I needed a new car. I wanted an older gti, but I also liked the civic hatch. So my friend said that if I find him a turbo talon, he'll trade me. I found one near philly for 3400 and I bought it, then he signed the civic over to me. This was in the winter of 99. (whew!)
By the time I got the car, it had yellow 17s on it (I really wanted a car with nice wheels, I was gonna get the yellow ones coated white, but ran out of money), Greddy exhaust, and DC intake. Externally it has a WW mid hatch spoiler and the spoiler with the larger LED (similar to SiR). Too bad I was in school, took some time to get the car where I wanted it. But now I finally (after almost 3 years of trying to save) have a b16 and rota SS are in the garage. Right now I'm rockin Si wheels, which have been on the car a year. It surely has come a long way, pics soon hopefully...
I carry a picture in my wallet of the day I bought my car in April of '95. Me and my buddy Noah leaning on it, chillin'.
Anyways, I was rolling through a parking lot when I saw it for sale. Called the owner and bought it that day. Came with a Motorola radar detector (still savin' me to this very day), a sony CD player, and a cheap-ass alarm system. Paid $7500 for it with @ 74K on it. Came with some pretty nice Honda rims (still have them in my basement).
It's been broken into 8 times. http://racing-forum.pulse.pdi.net/plikownia/jeju.gif I've had 4 different stereo systems in it.
Bought a set of 15" Konig Tuners (those got stolen), replaced them with the same rims. Then, about 3 years ago, started modding with I/H/E, etc. It's come a long way since I bought it, currently waiting for my front bumper to put on my body kit and ram-air hood, then it's getting a fatty paint job. Can't wait to post some pics.

well since melt brought it back and i wasent even here when it was started ill share my story......turned 16 started lookin for a car had about 2,300 to spend, my eye at 1st was on a 1st gen turbo eclplise or talon, but i thought i had to settle for a non turbo gs model *i got into dsm's alot then* and i went to look at it and it had shaved handles, candy apple paint, painted interior, new engine, just good lookin car for 700 the guy told me cuz he just wanted it out of his yard, he had like 10 other cars, but the next day his wife sold it so i was heart broken and mad so i go checkout auto trader and come across a 1991 civic dx for 1900 so i go check it out i didnt really like it but i was gettin restless lookin for a car so i said ok what the hell, i bought it for 1700 cuz it had broken cv joints and i got him down from 1900, turned out i went home and read the books and all the shyt in the glove box and what not even had the original price thing that used to be in the window in there *10,xxx* something i think it originally sold for and i was lookin and it said si with 1.6l engine and the guy told me it was a dx with a 1.5l engine so i pop the hood look and its a 1.6l so the guy selling it thought he sold me a dx with a sunroof. ok so i had to change the axles, brakes and windshield and various other worn out parts and spent about 1,000 plus and counting on it so far and i need a new engine cuz the head has a crack somewhere and its coming up on 200,xxx miles so...., well today i put bar leak or....bar...something that stops leaks so ill can drive smoke free until i get the money for a new engine and thats my sumerized story....kinda long but oh well :finger:

I have had mine for about 3 months
It is a 1990 1.6 DOHC non-vtec D16A9, when I got it, it was stock and had 94,000 miles on it and a blowing exhaust and a few bits of rust,
I paid £675.00 with 1 months tax & MOT
since then I have clocked up 6,000 miles had a new gearbox, clutch, exhaust,K&N,alloys, steering wheel, and other bits
it has full service history, and 4 previous owners

Well, after I was run off the road in my 73 MGB - GT, I needed another car and was looking a lot at hatches, and g2 integra's, I found a g2 integra I almost got but it had a 4 door hood on it. anyways, one day I was mobbin up browns vly road when I saw my sedan parked there, so I stopped to check it out and it was pretty reasonable and had a new engine, so me and my dad go check it out later ,call the guy, take it to a shop, talk the guy down from $2700 to $2400, and buy it. We had to replace a couple of things to get it mobbin good but now its a sweet ride.

Bought my sedan in Dec. 00 cause my POS Escort Pony was dying....somehow got $600 trade in on my Escort so after tax, title, and liscense, it cost me $1404.....Had 115000 miles on it than, has 145000 now, and still runs like a champ, although hills do kick my ass at times.

I got my '91 Si in 98 with 56k miles on it. It still had the stock POS stereo in it. I now have 152k on it. It's had minimal problems. I have studded snow diggers on my steel wheels and have stock diameter Borbets on the car. It's needed front and rear brakes (I upgraded to EBC pads and disks up front), swapped the timing belt at 112k (too long , I know). The second (Honda stainless muffler) exhaust rotted off at the tips so I put a Vibrant ALL stainless axle back on it. It has a short AEM intake for fun and squealy noises. I have a header I bought used I have yet to install. It was backed into once so I ended up with new headlights, hood, radiator and a bit of secondary structure. I have Scroth autocontrol belts in it too. The turn signal switch needed replacing a while back and the alternator just last weekend had to be swapped. The best addition is the Valentine One radar/laser locator which keeps me and the police on good terms. It's been a damn reliable car and is my daily commuter even if it uses a little oil. The driver's seat is getting a little worn and I may swap it out for something better. I still ned to fix the wiring to the rear wiper. Hell, I gotta get another 50k out of it before I buy a Cooper S.
