If you have a stock car go with regukar AC/Delco plugs. If you go with a 3.4 pulley and what not. Always go with the Autolite 104s. I love them, but you have to change them every 10k-15k miles

It's a common mis-conception that Autolite is part of Ford, it is not. Autolite contracted with Ford to make many OEM parts, but Autolite is actually a division of Allied Signal, which also makes Bendix Brakes and Fram Filters. Autolite plugs are excellent quality, and as a matter of fact, GM uses autolite as a fill-in supplier for AC Delco plugs when their own facilities cannot meet produciton demands. Have any of you modders looked to see if Autolite offers the 104 in a platinum or double platinum? They may offer the performance you need with the longevity you want. The double platinum (platinum on both ground and center electrode) would be an APP104, and the single platinum (platinum on center electrode only) would be an AP104.

IMO the brand spark plug you use is more of a matter of personal preference. AC Delco Platinums, AC Delco Iridiums, Autolites and NGKs all work well. I've got different brands in all of my "W" body cars (3).

I use Autolites because they work based on my mods and are cheaper so its more economical for me since the plugs get swapped once a month on my GTP or sooner depending on how many total runs I have do at the track on any given day.

My GTP is stock. It's time to change them out so I wanted to know what the pros recommend.

My '00 GTP is stock, I already purchased the AC/Delco Iridiums. After I start modding I plan to switch to Autolite's. My :2cents:

The PROs (thats me) recommend A/C Delco plugs in GM vehicles.
I have seen too many driveability concerns with non AC Delco plugs.
The ONLY plug I use in my GM vehicle is an AC Delco.

and as a matter of fact, GM uses autolite as a fill-in supplier for AC Delco plugs when their own facilities cannot meet produciton demands.

In 22 years of dealing with GM cars, I have never seen an Autolite plug in a vehicle from the factory...on occasion GM will use a NGK.

Rich, on the issue of the Autolite Platinums, it's a good suggestion. But the copper core Autolites are the racers choice and it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks. IMO the Platinums are great for long life but the coppers dissipate heat better. Plus I can get 6 103s for under $10.00 at Walmart. The issue has been debated over and over in the past.

On the issue you raised about Autolite making plugs for AC Delco, why would they make this claim on their web site:

"Since its inception, Autolite has guaranteed aftermarket and Original Equipment customers worldwide the highest quality products for high performance sparkplugs and sparkplug wires. The Autolite team manufactures Autolite® branded spark plugs and ignition wire sets, and provides plugs to leading Original Equipment Manufacturers like Ford Motor Company and General Motors. "

So are you saying that you can buy an AC Delco spark plug and the actual manufacturer could be Autolite.....is this true?

Now here's another interesting point. I pulled one of my AC Delco Iridium 41-101 plugs out of my Regal GS and on the base it's marked NGK. But the ceramic has AC Delco on it. I installed them back in 2003. :dunno:

I hope this doesn't confuse anyone.

Yes it is true that a plug in a Delco box could have been manufactured by Autolite. I see your point on the copper vs platinum if you only use them for a short period in a hi-perf motor. $10 a set is way better than $30. I am only curious to know if the platinum's denser tip material would make for less of a need to swap so often. Platinum comes up to operating temp faster than copper so they may have a performance gain as well. Since GM went to their 41-xxx numbering system, it is much more difficult to determine heat ranges for modders, which is why I assume you switched to Autolites, as their numbering system is simple, lower number= colder heat-range (within the same plug type).
