i was reading a thread on here about the mini me swap about the z6 and y8 heads. i was thinking about doing this myself but i have a question...if i were to get a d16z6 head would parts from the d16y8 head fit on the z6(fuel rail, intake manifold, distributor, etc.) same goes for the opposite...will z6 parts fit on the y8 head

There are some differences between them. The fuel rails are different so if you are going to use a z6 intake mani you have to use a z6 fuel rail. As far as the dizzys im not sure if they are interchangeable or not i can find out tomarow tho. Exhaust manifold/header (if stock) has to be the existing one in the car or it will not bolt up example:you cant bolt up a y8 stock header to a stock 89 civic exhaust. If you do the swap, get a new timing belt and head gasket. Also if you car isnt an si or and hf you will need to do a mpfi conversion. If its an hf you will need different pistons. The hf pistons wont work because the only have 2 valve reliefs a cylinder and the z6 and y8 heads are both 16 valve. Also your going to need a way to activate the vtec. If i was your and had the money i would replace the water pump, cam seal, dizzy seal, valve cover gasket, ect.

Also, bambam told me that the y8 head works good on a si block because you can retain your si dizzy on the y8 head, stay OBD0 with a VAFC. If you use a z6 head you have to modify the legs so the si dizzy will mount up and/or convert to 0BD1...
