If you want a Honda product, Look at a GSR sedan, better stock performance than any Civic sedan, and insurance shouldn't be very high. I'm kinda partial to the Taurus SHOs the 92-94 models in particular, reliable if properly maintained, looks good/sporty but not overdone, and they're pretty fast.

Another car I'd reccomend...

'94-'99 Nissan Maxima. I see alot of these cars around my area and they look really good when they are dressed up correctly. It falls into every category you mentioned too. I'd take that car over any Honda sedan anyday.

If your looking at a GSR you mightaswell look at a celica gt or gts...its relatively comparable and pretty practical

Yea the 95-99 Maxima's will put the GSR to shame in terms of performance and acceleration...they are so underrated and are quick. Also you can purchase a Stillen supercharger also if that's your fancy and get some more ponies up under there...w/all boltons and the blower...you could do some sleeper damage!

You'd be hard-pressed to make a case for the Maxima having better handling than the GS-R, but in terms of straight-line, it's the better option. Roomier back seats too.

Agreed a 850R are great sedans, but you would be hard pressed to find one and even harder for one in manual (850Rs with manual were only sold in Canada).

May I recommend pre-1995 Subaru Legacy GT? They come turbocharged stock, they might be 160hp but with 181 torque it makes for pretty good performance. Not to mention people have been able to tune them up to 400hp. You can find more info here. (http://www.cars101.com/subaru_legacy_archive.html)

You can also get a 1995-00 Legacy 2.5GT, pertaining you swap in STi or 01+ heads.

Then there is the Galant VR4 to consider, anything above 1994 though can get a bit pricey. But considering they use the same engine as in the Eclipse GSX they are pretty tunable, not to mention 4 wheel steering. The normal Galant is pretty sporty too.

There is also the bigger Diamante VRX which comes with the same engine and AWD system as the 3kgt VR4, no turbo though. As well as in 1997 getting a larger 3.5l V6. There is also the FWD models with the same engine.

Then there is the Mazda Millenia S that comes equipped with a supercharger as well as using the Miller cycle which gives it a nice 210hp out of a 2.3l while still maintaining a good fuel economy. This combined with ample luxury as well as having nice handling like any Mazda should makes it a very good sedan. However, outside of exhaust and intake the car is very hard to tune. You can find a quick review here. (http://www.cartalk.com/content/testdrives/Reviews/mazda-millenia-s-1999.html)

Good luck and I hope you like whatever car you choose.

Ah yes the Grand Prix GTP, a very good car, deceptively fast also, however not available with a manual transmission.

Don't ask me why I but I don't think he would choose the Grand Prix GTP because it is a Pontiac. I can be wrong though.

However, it is still a fast and nice handling sedan, which is also has a great aftermarket since it has the 3800.

yeah...he did say it needed a manual transmission and no pontiacs so thats 2 strike against the GTP. otherwise, good choice...

how about an older Audi A4? arguably one of the best AWD systems on the planet, 1.8T can handle quite a bit of power before needing internal modifications, luxurious as it gets for under $10k, reliable, aftermarket for exterior and interior is pretty big...plus chicks dig Euro imports. :)

What about a Cavalier? 4 doors, cheap, good on insurance, manual, aftermarket, decent looks IMO...and alot of the aftermarket is GM covered

go with a maxima. it fits your criteria perfectly. i ran my 95 maxima to 170,000 miles and it was still running strong so it's reliable, you can get 'em 5 speed, there's a surprisingly large aftermarket for it like headers, S/C's, turbo's, downpipe's, variable intake manifolds, and if you do some research you'll see that the 4th gen maxima (95-99) is lighter than almost every other 6 cylinder car during the time, my registration listed the car's weight at ~2850 lbs.

update for everyone...

I went totally out of my boundaries, and bought a...

2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac (V6, 2wd) for 8k from some old guy who bought a escape hybrid.

it had ~20k miles on it, and a blown head gasket. im replacing the gasket now, there was an obstruction in one of the exhaust ports, and that caused too much pressure so the gasket just let go. So for ~100 bucks, i get it for about half of what a working one would cost me.

Now im looking for some nice rims for it.

Thanks for all your input guys!

I would go with a '94-'99 Maxima as well. When this car came out, Motor Trend did a top speed test and was surprised how fast it was. I think it beat both the Mustang GT and Prelude VTEC.
