GS-R vs. GS/LS

I'm thinking of buying an integra when i turn sixteen or thereabouts. I'm leaning towards a '98 gs-r for power, luxury, the obvious reasons. The only reason i would get an ls is because turbos supposedly work better with it. If i got a gs-r i'd probably leave it stock for a while and start modding once i have a bit more money. Are gs-r's really that much worse for turbos than ls/gs's?

No, they will make more power from a turbo than an LS will. The LS engine is popular, because it has lower compression so you can boost more "safely". As an example, if you boosted a GS-R and an LS both with the same kit and at the same psi; the LS would be slightly "safer". Yet the GS-R would be faster by quite a bit. I use the word "safely" and "safer" (with quotes), because no boost is safe if you don't have it properly managed (fuel and ignition). Again with the above example, if you raised the boost on the LS (which the lower compression would allow), you could make theoretically make more powerthat the boosted GS-R. So neither is really better than the other, it's all a matter of personal taste and how far you want to go with it. *cough*the LS is also cheaper*cough cough* :D

No GSR are not bad for turbo at all. Its just that LS can take more boost STOCK. A turbo GSR is a lot better than a turbo LS all you have to do is lower compression and strenghen internals.

well, say that i bought two cars, an ls and a gs-r. If i bought turbos for both, and ran them each at a similar "safety" level of boost, what would be the difference between the two in terms of power?

figure you can run around 7 psi for the gsr safely and around 10 for the ls...you will get about 8.5 horses per psi soo...gsr 170 + 59=229...and for the ls 142+ 85= 227...so there about the same but i would go with the gsr just because you can lower the compression and boost just as much as the ls and create more power...but thats just me

You can actually do 12psi safely on a LS.
