My '91 accord just died and it would be $1500-$2000 to replace the engine on a car that's worth maybe $1000.

My dad is willing to look for a new car for me but I'm gonna go ahead and say it can't be more than around $5000.

I've looked at 300zx's cause i love the look of them, and even though KBB says they should be under that range, or at least some of them, it seems their collectors value is overshadowing their real world price.

Would you guys recommend any other cars along that line with decent horsepower and torque(preferably a substantial upgrade to my honda accord)?

Thank you very much for you time.

I doubt you will find a 300ZX in good condition with low mileage for $5k. I would suggest maybe a Nissan 240SX or Acura Integra GSR, something along those lines.

I've got several ideas for you. Nissan Maxima, Taurus SHO, Ford Thunderbird Super Coupe, Dodge Spirit R/T, Mustangs, and Camaros.

can anyone recommend a good website or medium to look for cars? should i try ebaymotors or autotrader.com or stick with good old fashioned paper ads?

It's hard to beat the 1st gen. Miata when it comes to cheap fun, but if you want something a little bigger and more powerful, a 5.0 Mustang or LT1 Camaro fits the bill.
