Hello All,

Question, how many grease fittings are there on the 2005 Taco, 6 speed, 4WD, 6cyc.? I don't remeber the exact engine number but I believe it starts with the 1REXXX. Last night I counted and greased 5. Is this it? If there are more could you please indicate where they are? The fittings consisted of three for the driveshafts for the drive train and 2 for the shaft for the four wheel drive.

Paul

This is probably similar to yours:

Thanks Brian.

Got another one. As far as I can remember, all of my standard transmissions had a clutch fluid Reservoir (SP?). I was unable to locate one on my truck. Description of truck above in thread. Any idea where this is? Manual makes not mention of this.

Thanks,
Paul

the 05 tacoma shares the clutch reservoir with the brake reservoir. you will notice a line going from the brake master down to the clutch pedal, thru the firewall. this was a common practice on early saabs as well. as far as the clutch master cyl location, i beleive its behind the clutch pedal now as i see a brake line going to that area. there are other hidden mechanics on this new truck. the wiper motor is located under the cowl, i beleive. the throttle cable is replaced by fly by wire technology.

"the 05 tacoma shares the clutch reservoir with the brake reservoir." So, if you get a leak in the clutch hydraulics you can perhaps lose your brakes unless there is a partition in the reservoir. In addition to leaking on your shoes, I'm sure the cylinder would be a bear to change.
