Long time no post :)
It seems like a very long time since I started the thread on the Audi R8R, in fact it was waaaay before LeMans of this year....sigh...
The Diary (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=284223)
Well to make a long story short, and what was to be a thorough build diary, a "suddenly complete" one, I have no excuse other than life got in the way :)
So finally I was able to put this project on the shelf. It was a miserable kit that I wouldn't wish on anyone. Was it worth all the work ? Ask me again after I forgotten all the hours spent filling, sanding, rescribing etc...
Additions to the kit were numerous, complete interior scratch built, Sakatsu Turned Aluminum wheels, Modelers Photo-etched wiper, parts box wing, Modelers headlights and tailights, Studio 27 carbon fiber decals, and Acu-Stion photo-etched tire stencils. The only quality items in the entire kit were the decals and the photo-etch sheet.

In it's defense, I believe the kit was destined to be a slot car body and was perhaps detailed enough for racing but wow, what a bear...
Thanks to all who patiently waited to see the outcome.
Now it's on to much better projects :)

Hmm, that doesn't sound like good news, I just bought one of Volkl's products, a Cadillac Northstar LMP resin kit  Got it on eBay for £35.
Finished product is excellent though, keep it up

Thanks for your comments. I'm not slagging the company's complete line of products, just the one I've had to deal with :) As far as I know, this is the only 1/24 version of the R8R ever made, so if it's important to a collector, it can be built into a decent shelf model, you just have to put in a significant amount of effort.
I would like to hear how the Caddy looks. Post a kit review if you have a few minutes.

Too bad about the struggles. Good to see you pulled through though. The end result is a beaut.

Thanks to all for your kind words, it's appreciated :)
I failed to mention previously that the photos were taken by a good friend of mine, Phil Dauphinee, who is a very talented automotive model builder in his own right and I wanted to thank him publicly for taking these photos.

Thanks again for the favorable comments. And Sticky, what you are seeing on the Infinion decal is reflection. The decal is nicely snuggled down :) Thanks for looking, it's appreciated :)
