A couple degrees adv may add minimal hp that you will not feel. You turn dist clockwise to advance if i remember correctly. But note, this may cause a stock engine to run rough at idle/cruise. Also it can cause you to spark knock. 12* adv I beleive is all you would need in a stock motor. If your motor is not stock then please give us a little more info so we can help you a little more.

If you adv it clockwise it can give you more power, but if you change to a higher oct fuel that will give you the ability to even adv the timing more, for a little more power.
