2000 Venture failed to start....all went out!

Hey...would anyone know why my 2000 Venture decided to not start on me today?? I went to go to work and put the key in and it lit up like it was gona start, then all went out! It wouldn't turn over....no clicking noises, etc. Then after I shut the key off, it made a noise that I would describe to you as a quiet power antenna type noise...almost coming from the radio area. We jumped it....it started and stayed running....but, the message center says SECURITY on it and doesn't go off. I looked that up in the manual and it talks of a Pass III- key. Manual says something about a key shutting down EVERYTHING. I don't know where to go and don't have big bucks for repair. HELP!!!! Please!! It was running fine just this morning when I drove it to work!

I had troubles with our 99 all os a sudden not cranking but very reposnsive to a boost and then work perfect for about a week and then suddenly no cranking.

Turned out to be a bad internally threaded insert on the factory battery. the lead had cracked and did not make proper contact.

Replacing the battery solved that issue. We did not have the security light but anytime I read about someone with strange cranking problems where it will not even attempt to crank one day and then start fine the next I feel like mentioning this.

Although the battery terminals are hidden I poked around and easily pulled off the positive battery lead insert and all.
