The torque convertor is inside the automatic transmission. It converts the torque of the engine to torque in the transmission. Think of it as two fans sitting right next to each other with one running. The air motion causes the other unpowered fan to move. Now replace the air with transmission fluid, hook one fan to the engine and one to the tranmission, and you have a torque convertor. It allows transmission of power, but allows slippage when needed.
You access the torque convertor by removing the tranmission. It is in the "bell housing" between the engine and the transmission.....hope this helps...Glen

Basically it's in the same location a cutch assembly would be at if the transmission was a manual.
