What do you mean by shifting autos? Like putting in 1st then shifting it into 2nd then putting it in D or 3?

Thats shifting an auto........last time I looked, what did you think it was?

Well there's new cars that let you either go auto or shift it yourself like in my friends Mazda 6 so I had to make sure.

Well onto the topic, shifting an auto will be slower than you think, let the comp do it and bam faster speed.

I know the computer is faster, but shifting down is so fun.....not necissarily faster. What do you think?

Well down shifting is to slow down.. or atleast thats what I use it for. I tried racing, doing the auto shifting thing and almost lost so I wouldnt recommend it during a race, although I DO downshift whenever I feel like taking on a curve and dont feel like braking or use it to help out.

I just mean screwing around shifting not racing.
You keep avoiding/ switching my question around!!!
whats the deal RALLY???:dunno:

Is It Bad For Your Car Or Not?

Rally Sport

See if you asked that in the beggening it would've been better..

Sorry if I seem like that, but its not bad for your car, so SHIFT AWAY! Just remember it will bring your gas mileage down too if you shift everytime you redline, so dont..

No, dude I said its fine it doesnt mess up your engine or trans, as far as I know. All I said is whats obvious.. pushing your revs high then shifting will bring down your gas mileage.

They make shift kits that make the auto act like a manual. Meaning that when you put it into 2nd, ITS IN SECOND. Great for Power Braking :D

is that called a manual valve body???
and have yall seen those dual gate shifters....on one side its normal thirdgen camaro shifter but then you can move it over and its like 4 3 2 1....what im wondering is if you put that on your car and go to the side that just has the numbers will it stay in 2nd like a manual valve body or does it still act like a regular auto shifter....i believe the shifter im talking about is called the dual gate2 shifter made by hurst...i couldnt find it on the web though?

For upshifting, as long as you don't wait too long, it won't hurt anything.
You will more than likely be slower doing this though.

Let the car downshift itself though.

That's what I'm planning for the near future :evillol:

All this autoshifting reminds me of my first car, 91 CRX stock, I used to screw around with shifter all the time. Then when my uncle visits he says, no you should start out in this gear. And every so often on a trip, my dad likes to shift and I remind him, this ain't a manual!!! Good times.

I wasn't exactly a rice burner. My friend's who were just getting me started in cars were sitting across the table from me and said, your new exhaust is going to sound like a lawnmower--...yes. But I have to admit, not even an si and and thing had great power to weight ratio for a...90 hp? I'll tell you another thing, monte carlos pissed me off. It was even worse that I thought they were cadillacs ><
