i bought my 1998 grand prix gtp about 1 month ago everything seemed ok except for the valve cover gasket leak. about 2 weeks after i buohgt the car everything started to go wrong. theres a ticking noise in the front end theres a grinding noise in reverse the trans seems to be slipping and worst of all everyday i turn my car on it seems another light on the dash goes out. so far the headlight lcontrol light went out the HUD control knob lights went out my rear window lights go out. they all didnt go out at once just once a day or 2 plus the egr valve went out. my tcs dosent seem to kick on when it should i dont understand why. i was talking to the lady i bought it from she said im taking better care of the car then she did i dont see why im having so many probs. ive changed the antifreeze(flushed) changed the oil with 10w 30 castrol gtx drive hard oil i had the trans fluid flushed and changed i just changed the supercharger oil. and it seems the more good things i do to the car the worse it gets. any ideas as to why my car is falling apart with only 116172 miles on it. i treat it like a baby.

also will the egr valve for a 1996 buick regal work. it only said that it was from the 3.8 and that its not interchangeable but i think because its from ebay hes just trying to save his but im assuming being its the same engine itll be ok to change it with right?

thanks guys youve all been a great help

the lady you bought the car from seemed to indicate she didnt take good care of it.....at this milage a tranny flush was probobly a mistake...if tranny is grinding and slipping you will most likely need to replace it...this unit is very expensive because it is a performance-HD version...for your car the tranny could cost more than 3/4 the book value of your car...i also would'nt buy an EGR(used) from EBAY....1996 car is 10 years old once you get the part and install it...it may not work...if you try to return it they may say that you did something wrong upon installation and will not give your money back....if you can get the car running good, i would suggest trying to sell it...good luck
