I take it there are transmission cooling lines running from the radiator to transaxle to help cool the oil, can antifreeze get in transaxle fluid? Corroided lines etc.? If I have to get a new transaxle where do you think I should get it replaced, salvage yard? or anybody know of a reputable transmission chain? I have a '97 Taurus 3.0 , and also would a transaxle from other newer models like '00 to '05 work in a '97 model? Thanx for any info. :p

Yes, a transmission from a Gen IV should work as long as you stay with the same type (AX4S-AX4S or AX4N-AX4N)

yes, antifreeze can get in your trans fluid if it corrodes through or is punctured. I generally recommend a rebuilt transmission from a large remanufacturing company.
