How can I get this thing to work? Is it a fuse or a fuel sensor? Where do I get parts and how do I repair it? Is there a book available to show a woman how to do this repair? Many thanks, Lynne

Is it stuck on full or empty? Is it staying in one place and not moving, or does it bounce all over the gauge. Parts houses sell manuals for specific vehicles. Haynes is easiest to understand.

It always shows empty...until you shut the truck off then it shows 1/4...

I know it is a pain to get to, but see if you can unplug the wires that go to the fuel pump. If you unplug the wires and the gauge moves, the sending unit in the tank is bad. If gauge does not move, look for a bad wire or the gauge itself being bad.

This is the reply to your e-mail.
You will have to drop the tank or remove the bed. I am not sure of the cost due to the varying labor rates around the country. It should not be over 3 hours to replace. More than likely it will be less. If the tank is close to empty it is easy to drop the tank. If it is close to full, it needs siphoned out or the bed removed. We remove the bed in our shop, but that also varies on each repair facility.
