My service engine light came on after I changed the intake gaskets on my 98 tahoe. I had a scanner check it out and it said that it was a MAF (102) and the cam shaft position sensor (1345). After erasing the codes I started it and the light came back on. When I got home I checked and made sure that the plugs were tight and in place. My question is, I know the two are connected and was wandering if my distributor needs to be turned alittle. If it is cross-firing will it give a cam shaft position fault? It runs fairly good just a little sluggish feeling.

The timing can only be set with a scan tool. Most likely, the 1345 code is set because the timing was not set.

Do the ODB's that the local auto parts stores use be able to do this?

The scan tool must support reading of the Cam Retard Offset in order to set the timing with it. Some of the code readers will not be able to do this.
Maybe one of the GM Techs can comment on which scan tools can be used to set the timing (but costs less than a Tech 2)
