I am getting code P1655- a dealer code. I am told it is the evaporator purge valve. Where is it, and what should I change?

Hotz28 is right, but I found that code to mean starter disable circuit. 1655 has no relation to any codes for the evap system get the right code and post back, keep in mind lots of evap codes do mean to replace a part they can be far more complex to repair.

That was the code, but I'll have it checked again. I was told it is a "dealer specific" code.

According to this site, there is a p1655 code and it lists it as the evap purge valve.

I guess we need dan9x to tell us the year of the car that has the problem. If it is actually the evap purge valve solenoid, that is a very simple replacement. There is not but one on the canister.

Hello my name is Hot Rod TOMMY, I HAVE BEEN A CALIFORNIA SMOG TECHNICIAN SINCE 1977, I AM CURRENTLY AN A.S.E./ MASTERTECH
G.M. MASTER TECH, TOYOTA LEXUS MASTERTECH
A P1655 IS A EVAP PURGE SOLENOID CODE, EITHER THE ECU IS NOT GROUNDING THE EVAP CIRCUIT, OR THE PURGE SOLENOID HAS AN INTERMITTEN OPEN, OR THEIR IS AN OPEN IN THE GROUND CIRCUIT OF THE PURGE SOLENOID. SO GET TO WORK AND FIND THE PROBLEM.:crying::grinno:

THIS IS ABSOLUTELY FALSE. P1655 IS AN INDUSTRY STANDARD EVAP PURGE SOLENOID DTC FOR SEBERAL MODELS OF VEHICLES. HOTz28 is not as hot as he thinks he is.
