Companies like DHP - Digital Horsepower will custom re-program the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) for the Alero.

Good to hear from you. 125K miles on the Alero? Trying to set a new record? I hope ours makes it that far...lol :lol2: Right now it's sort of in mothballs. I take it out once or twice a month for my son just to keep the tires from getting out of round and keep the seals good. It only has about 42K miles now. He joined the Air Force.
Not much going on. Just working on my '97 GTP. Working on some more mods as funds become available.

Hey Andrew. I have 2 sons. The oldest is the one still in college. He's a Sophomore at West Point. #2 is the one who went into the Air Force (enlisted) for 6 years. F15/16 fighter jet repair.
I'm supposed to pull the PCM and send it to DHP for the custom programming job since the Alero has a lot of down time now. He wants the speed limiter removed and a little more improvement on the timing map for a CAI and exhaust mods. The cost will be around $215.00. And I found a CAI on Ebay for around $65.00.
What do you think?

Sounds good. But when they start changing things such as maf senser, they will tune it on another car, but if its a nice day, warm weather, and when it gets cold outside, it may not work as well. but i think all in all, if you dont toutch that, it should work out just fine. I saw one on www.pfyc.com but it did not list my year. my engine did not change from 99 to 2000. what gives?? oohhhh well. take it easy.

Good point my friend. Although it's a little expensive a company called Granatelli Motosports has a calibrated cold air intake tuneable MAF sensor for around $250.00. It has a bigger bore too. Basically, it's a MAF sensor with an adjustment to compensate for temperature and weather changes, etc. They claim a solid 20 hp gain at the wheels.
On the DHP re-programmed PCM try:

For the Alero you have to request custom but the re-program is similar to what they do for the Grand Am.
