Does anyone know how to release the rear bank of plug wires?
I can reach them but I feel some kind of covering that won't release when I tug.

The wires have metal RF shields around them. You can pull on these with your hand and they should bring the plug wires off with them. You just have to pull to get them off. Make sure to replace them with the new wires.

ACTUALLY I JUST GOT ANGRY ENUFF TO HAVE THE STRENGTH TO GET THEM OFF!
AFTER SWITCHING THE WIRES THO I SEEM TO HAVE THE STUMBING EFFECT WHEN THE CAR DOWNSHIFTS!?
ARE THERE SOME LIITLE CHIPS OR VALVES THAT MIGHT BE CLOGGED?

Did you change the plug wires with new ones?
Did you change them one at a time?
I'm guessing that you have a bad wire (new ones can be bad) or you don't have the firing order correct.

It's running much smoother -- only stumbles when downshift into 4th gear.
Is the egr valve the plastic army-helmet looking thing?
A verticle cyclinder to the left of the air intake?
I found a horizontal small black pipe thing on the right rear and unplugged that -- but no change at all.

OK, New plugs, new wires, EGR unplugged, injectors cleaned and rocket fuel in the tank.
Runs strong and great -- but as soon as it downshifts -- bumpy ride all over again.
New thoughts?
Thank you!

Well when it rains it pours. I've found that once a tale light goes out you have to buy out autozone before it runs like it used to.
If the engine es not miss-firing after the downshift but you get a crappy ride it could be something in the tranny.
