I love this truck but I am on my last leg. If I don't find out what is wrong with this truck I will sell it to the highest bidder! j/k but for real, I just replaced the batterie, alternator, and starter and it still is very intermitent on starting. I have had people tell me it is the radio shorting out or the ground but sometimes it starts and sometimes it dosen't. when it dosen't start i just put jumper cables on it and it turns right over. The dash light still are lit but no starter. Anybody have any ideas that i coukd try? thanks.

Does it just do nothing when you turn the key? or does it click ? or what.
The 80's trucks have a wiring issue in the starting circuit. I've had it on an 83 4WD and an 84 2WD and seen it on others. Symptom #1 above. But it's not a charge issue, jumping the batt doesn't help. You have to bypass the wiring, adding a pushbutton to start is the easiest, most common fix.

Also, make sure alll your ground wires (batt, engine, etc) are clean and tight.
