4x4 problems

I have a 1992 GMC Sierra ,I recently tried the 4 wheel hi, and it will not lock in. The 4 wheel low still works but light on concel does not work in hi or low.could this be the actuator, or sensor.The tranfer case doesnt make any noise just wont lock in. Thanks for any help......Tom
