Wierd idle problems, idles very low in neutral/park, but when I put it in gear, the idle kicks up (you can here it), nothing bad, just higher than idle in neutral/park. However, it vibrates enough that the hood shakes when it is in gear....... Anyone have any thoughts?

check your fans and make sure they both are operating properly if not check the relay that controls your main fan and the ac fan i have almost the same problem with my 98 contour sport and that is what i was told by my friend who is a mechanic

fans wont make your car idle rough.

how many miles? Could be your intake manifold gasket.. or a simple vacuum leak.

Changed your plugs/wires lately? any CEL codes?

my car has about 145k on it and ive had the intake gasket changed a few thousand miles ago checked for vacume leaks and plugs and wires were changed about 20k miles ago didnt fix or even help with the problem and i only brought up the fans and relays because thats what i was told by an ase certified master mechanic

why in the world would two electric fans set on a relay make an engine idle rough?

doesn't make sense to me.

tps (throttle positioning sensor) is an idea too (forgot to mention this in my first post).. and the IAC

how would you test to find out if the tps or iac is whats causing it ?
