a few questions about my 2000 Intrigue

i recently acquired a 2000 Intrigue GL and i have a couple of questions and/or just things to discuss..

1. when i use my turn signals, the side amber light stays on without blinking and the middle one(close to the grille) blinks...is this normal? ive never driven an intrigue or seen ones turn signals before.

2. i cannot get my foglights to turn on, im doing it properly, one of them is burnt out for sure, the other one still has the filament intact but i suppose it could be burnt out as well, if one is burnt out does it shut down the whole system?

3. what size is the exhaust piping? is it 2.25 or 2.5 inch?

4. where the effing poo are my sparkplugs and pretty much my entire ignition system? :screwy: just curious

5. how hard would it be to replace the light that goes inside the shifter area? or is that a do it yourself job?

6. im going to go out on a limb and say that this car has the same bolt pattern as pretty much all the other GM FWD sedans...my last car was a 96 Bonneville SE and i know it interchanged rims with GPs, Buicks, Impalas, Monte Carlos, all that jazz...so i would think this one would be the same..

7. what is the metal object with a sensor on it the lies between the TB and the airbox filter housing? its right before the accordian tube starts, ive never seen anything like it before.

thanks in advance, i have a lot of questions but im sure you all can help me out.

To answer some of your questions:
#1 the turn signal. It's like the Caddies it is normal for the lights. The marker light that stays on is for more lighting ya know to see around the corner.

#2 I don't have fog lights but I thing you might want to check the fuse for it and call your local dealer (parts department) to see if one goes out the other does not work.

#4 The plugs are located under the ignition coil.

#5 It's not that hard. First there are two bolts hold down the center piece. Lift up the arm rest, you will see the bolts. Remove them with a 7mm socket. Pull up on the plastic piece there are four retaining cilps that hold it in place. Now is the time to clean out the crap that has built up over the years (dry up soda, jucie, etc....) on the center piece and the shifter area. Remove the four bolts holding down the shifter plate and replace the bulb (194 bulb). I would you an extened life bulb. Then to put back is the reverse order. Hope that helps.

#7 That is the MAF sensor. Mass Air Flow

#6 You mean W body car. Yup. If your not sure best bet is to call your local dealer.

#4 if you are going after the plugs, the grey plastic cover must be moved to the side (away from the pack direction - so the front one will be to the left if you are facing the car) and not up or else you will break the tab.

I would get an alldatadiy.com account for the $25, it will have all the info you need. (I tell this to everyone)

Read all the posts on the forum, before you ask questions. You should be able to answer about 90% of them yourself. Typically people have the same Intrigue problems as others have had. The one nice thing about buying a 5yr old car is that most of the problems have been worked thru already.

so do i have to remove some screws or something to access the spark plugs? if so which ones? could someone be a kind soul and show me a picture?

so do these cars need the nice laminar airflow through the TB just like the 3800 cars do? i havent taken anything apart yet, so theres a MAF screen over the TB and all that?

and its not just the W body cars that interchange rims, Bonnevilles, Lesabres, and Eighty-Eights are all H-bodies, and i know that GP rims are a direct fit for all 92-99 Bonnevilles, so i think its the vast majority of GM FWD sedans...but i was asking not telling so ill shut up on that one.

i found the fuse for the fog lamps, but i couldnt seem to remove it, at least without exerting some sort of otherworldly force on it, and i just didnt want to do that, so ill have to just test some other theories.

thanks guys and gals
