alright, so i recently put in a second hard drive. now i have a 160 gig and the 80 gig that came with the computer.
i set the 160 gig to master and teh 80 gig to slave. the problem i ran into is that now when i check to see how much space in on the 80 gig drive it says that its capacity is only 31 and some gigs. did i set it up wrong or something? anyway to fix this?

Most likely you have set up one of the jumpers in the back of the 80 giger to limited capacity. HD have this option to limit their capacty to 30GB in order to make them work with older bioses/hdd controllers.
So look on the sticker on top of the hd and folow its intructions to change that jumper back.
Also make sure that the slave is in the middle of the ribbon cable and that the master is at the end.

i was just going to say your bios might noit support it but the my smart ass saw that you already have a 80 in the so that would of made no sense at all.
But yes my WD has a goes fromm 120 gig too 30 gig also just by the jumper.

alright, so i finally took my computer apart and looked at the drives. the 80 gig drive shows that with the cable (i'm guessing the one that came with the comp.) if it's set to slave, then it's only 32 gigs. does this mean i checked the way the jumper should be set up and it is set up correctly. does this simply mean my BIOS won't support it or what? do i have to upgrade or what, is there anyway to fix it so it reads as an 80 gig again?

Its not the bios. If if did recognise the HD as an 80 gigger before then it will still recognise it now as such.
I'm not sute what exactly you were trying to say but from what i understand if set to slave your 80GB drive shows as 30GB. Then try this, set your 80Gb drive to master put at the end of the ribbon cable and then set the 120GB one as slave and set it in the middle of the cable.
