K my friend has this 2004 Elantra GT auto, he wants it 5spd - its got the dohc 2.0 ltr in it - i dont know much about hyundai an all - but i have done almost everything else an i own one of the most complex an technical vehicles of its time so i am not a idiot - but these days with the technology changing things is very simple - so bottom line is if i got him a 5spd trans off a 2000 with the 2.0 an got the linkage/pedals yada yada yaa.... will that all bolt properly an is it gonna be a pain in the ass - i have done auto to manual swaps but never on a hyundai lol - fill me in here guys ...

For what it will cost him, he could probably sell the AT Elantra and buy a new MT Elantra and absorb the loss. Then he would also have his warranty intact. Why would someone buy a car and a year later want to do this??

Well the trannies sell on ebay for about $200 - $400. And you might find one close to you so you can arrange an inspection with the seller so it's not purchased sight unseen. I have no idea abotu cost of how much of a PITA is may be especially if he's got a friend doing labor for free.
