How does the headlight pull switch/knob remove so the panel will come out? Do you have to remove the steering wheel/column shift lever? Does the gauge panel remove from the back of the dash panel? Am trying to replace the shift pointer cable/spring, any help would be appreicated, thanks

if you reach under the dash you will find a small button atached to the headlight switch push it in and hold it then pull the knob out

Do as Brian70 said to remove the headlight knob. Yes the instrument gauge panel removes from the back of the dash panel. There are a couple of nuts that hold the steering column up in place. You might want to remove those so that the column will drop down to give you room to work on the dash panel. Once you get the dash panel out, I believe there is a little clip that attaches the shift pointer cable to to the back of the dash panel. You will prob have to reach in behind the panel and remove this to get the panel totally out. It's been a while since I had mine out, hope this helps.

Well got the knob/shaft out, now how the heck do you get the speedo cable unhooked from the dash cluster? The last one I removed was threaded, this one has some sort of a clip that doesn't want to pull off. Nice Nova!

I think you push the clip in towards the cluster and at the same time pull the cable out.
