i have a 75 cadilliac fleet wood engine in my truck and i was wondering if there are points and all that stuff in the distributor since i dont have a coil.

Pretty sure GM went to HEI ignition in all their model lines in 1975.
The distributors are rather large in diameter and have the coil built into the top of the cap under a cover. There are no points, in their place is a reluctor, stator, (I think that's what you call them) and amplifier module. So in normal use, the cap and wires wear out and thats about it.
It's a pretty good system.

Good post.
Remember if you intall a new cap, use a new rotor, too.
GM first used HEI in the 1973 model year. It is an excellent system.
