Ok, here's the deal. I was driving around today and when i pulled up to a stop sign the car died. I didn't really think much of it since it started right back up. I took off, made it about a block and the engine starts sounding like its bogging down. When I give it gas it dies, if I pump the gas kinda fast it will stay running and even rev up to about 4 grand on the tach. If I hold the gas pedal in one place the engine bogs down and dies. If I let off the gas pedal the car dies. The only way to keep it running is by pumping the gas quickly like I mentioned. It also sounds funny too. There's no smoke, no leaks or anything like that, it just won't stay running. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Well first off, if you posted which car you have that really helps as there are more than 1 3000gt/stealth. But I'm guessing that it's either
a) the plug to your MAS has come unplugged (by your intake)
b) one of your intake/intercooler pipes (if TT) blew off and needs to be reconnected/tightened down.

ok, my bad. i figured the car would be automatically entered with my username since i was asked what year/make/model i had when i registered. anyway, its a 95 3000gt sl. thanks for the help, is there any way you could maybe get me a picture of this MAS plug so i know exactly what to look for? im not much of a mechanic so i dont really know where to start, all i know is i need this car to run. thanks again.
oh yeah, one more thing. when i registered i wanted my username to be methamphetaminemilkshake but it got cut short, anyone know of any way to change my username without having to register again?

if its not your MAS, then i would check with your throttle body assembly, IAC, then VICS...in that order. but usually, as Igovert said, fluctiation in idle is most commonly caused by an unplugged MAS. did you recently have any work done on your car? has anyone been under the hood lately?

ok i figured it out. my fiancee came home from work and came outside with me to listen to the car run. when i started it with the hood up there was this hissing noise and i couldnt figure out where it was coming from. long story short, she noticed that the airline that goes from the filter to the engine came apart at the clamp. i reconnected it an voila, the car runs like new with no problems. and here i thought it was something major. kinda makes me feel retarded, a woman figured out what was wrong before i could. :D

glad to hear you fixed it! ya, when there's a hissing noise, 95% of the time its a vacuum leak...in your case, it was.
