86 Ford LTD Fuel Filter

I have an 86 Ford LTD with a 3.8L V6. I was trying to locate the fuel filter on the car and I was unable to find it. I would have thought it would have been in the rear on the inside of the chassis rail, but i could not find it. Anyone know where it might be? it's about the size of an oil filter from the looks of the replacement. Thanks
