96 Ram won't shift from 2nd gear

I have a '96 Ram 4x4 with an automatic that won't shift out of second gear. This just started yesterday and am curious if anyone has any thoughts on what might be happening. Transmission fluid level and condition is OK. Thanks in advance.

i had this problem. two places told me i needed a new trans. third guy replaced a $13 cracked sulinoid and solved the problem. Make sure and have someone put it on a computer. hope this helps

Your trans is in limp mode, those transmissions were notorious for shift solenoid problems and/or valve body problems. You may what to have the selector switch checked as well.
