I have 2002 Ford Taurus SE that has just over 30k miles on it. I bought it used in 2003 with 25k miles on it. I haven't had many problems with the car aside from a battery that needed to be replaced and steering wheel shaking when I go above 70 mph. The Taurus has been my dream car for quite some time and I was thrilled that I finally got it. But now, i'm starting to wonder if I made the right choice in buying it. I've read all of the complaints here and some from various other sites. Did I make a bad decision? Is the Ford Taurus really such an unreliable car?

From what you say it sounds like it's not.

Someone has to understand a couple of things when it comes to reading these forums. This particular forum has a lot of posts, however they are ranging from the very first Taurus to now. The second issue is pure percentages. If you take into account the shear number of Taurus' on the road vs. how many are talked about here, the actual number of cars with serious problems is very low percentage wise. If you go on Edmunds (edmunds.com), or Msn Autos (autos.msn.com), or any other site which compares cars you will find that the 02 Taurus SE is a very very reliable car.

Thanks so much. I had read some reviews about the 2002 Ford Taurus and got really scared. But, from the other sites you recommended, seems like a pretty decent car. Thank you.

Steering wheel shaking when I go above 70 mph?
How did you fix this?
