TSI Troubles

I just purchased a 97 Eagle Talon Tsi Awd from a private seller and 10 minutes down the road the car started to lose power. Before i could procede to pull the car over to check tempature and coolant level, the car shut off. I then checked the coolant level and temperature and there was close to no coolant in the tank and the temperature needle was at all the way hot. As a result of this the gas pedal has become stiff and can no longer be pressed down and car wont start after letting engine cool and adding coolant. I then had the previous owner tow it the shop where it was last serviced at. This occured Wednesday and it now being saturday they still havent diagnosed the problem and probably wont be "looked at" until monday. Could you please give me some light on this very dark situation. The wait to find out what is that matter is almost unbearable.

i filled the coolant. Car does not start ;-(

In reference to the gas pedal not being able to be pressed down:

I know that there are some coolant passages that run through the throttle body to keep it cool. If you had no coolant, chances are maybe the plate got too hot and possibly expanded or melted to the intake manifold. I would personally take off your intercooler pipe to your intake manifold and check to see that the throttle plate looks okay. Also, if the throttle plate isn't opening to allow air into the engine, your car isn't going to start, so it won't really matter how much coolant you put in there. If your gas pedal is sticking, it probably means the throttle plate is too.

Also, be careful that the garage doesn't dick you around. If the car overheats, you're going to lose power as you said, and if it gets hot enough to freeze up your gas pedal and the throttle plate, it's most likely also going to shut off, as you said. Just keep these in mind.

Yeah, im letting the previous owner deal with all of the price issues because he is paying for the repairs, but your answer makes perfect sense. Ill keep all of that in mind
