I have a 96' max SE and my fuel injectors are clicking rather loudly I was going to run injector cleaner through it but in the book it says not to. Is this just Nissan trying to get you to take it in for service or is this valid?

I ran fuel injector cleaner fluid in my 96 every other oil change and I never had any problems. Damn the manual!

- are u sure its injectors, not valves or VTC?
- as last resort before swapping, why not do it.
- I do beleieve this recommendation has a reason
Cleaner, what for?:
- Gasoline is not homogenous, and during long stay gum like tar particles separate and sink to bottom. In everyday use, this is minimal. But if car is not used for long periods, engine vibration does not mix gas at all, even blocking fuel piping could occur.
- Cleaner chemicals are targeted to soak these to such fine particles that they will be injected. However, if soaking is only partly, you will get blobs fillin u filter, and worst case blocking the screen in the injector.
- Chemicals meant to soak gum may harm plastic parts; use anythin and anythin may happen
- I suppose the Nissan warning is b/c of reasons above. If ppl ruin their engines with wrong stuff, theyre not gonna pay. On the other hand, cannot see what harm the right stuff would do, especially if used often. [I don use and dont know what that stuff is]
