I've read quite a few post here. still i am puzzled. I picked up my kids from school, and 30 min. later it won't start. the engine is trying to crank over, but sounds like no fuel there to fire up. I've checked both fuse boxes looking for something simple.
It's a 2002 astro v6 with 128k on the clock. Is there a simple way to start trouble shooting with out spending a fortune on parts? I see the hammer to the bottom of the gas tank.

most likely suspect is the fuel pump. check the wiring to the pump, relay and oil pressure switch. check the associated fuses or fusible links. If the check engine light didn't come on, it's probably not the oil pressure switch. Having the pumps replaced by a mechanic on the newer models is really expensive. The new pump alone is expensive. I'll invest a weekend myself to drop the tank a replace it before I do that again.
