Yep, my dad finally sold his car. But, the new owner just so happens to be my good friend/roommate Marsh. He purchased the car just this past weekend. He was very satisfied with his purchase of course. He literally eyed the car like it was a nude model. So, I couldn't take that away from him. I talked my dad into selling him the car, and it only took a few months to convince him. If you remember, the old man wanted to sell it to me, but I wasn't that willing. Due to the mileage and what not. But Marsh was more than willing to purchase her.
So, he's the new owner. He's enjoying his new ride. But, I'm a little sad that my dad decided to sell. Although, on the flip side, he is looking for a VR-4 at the moment. He's waiting until this weekend to see if his friend could find one for him. So my dad is finally going the boosted way. He was always skeptical about boosted cars, and just didn't trust him. But with some convincing words, vids of cars here on the net, and numerous boosted friends, he finally gave in. I also had a good friend of mine give him a ride in his boosted Civic, to which he was very surprised at how well it performed under boosting conditions. That's half of the news I have. Another thread to come.

Well that's good you still get to see the car and all. I wish I could see mine every now and then...

Yeah, I even get to drive it every now and then. Unlike when my dad had it. Maybe once in 3 months I could take it for a spin. It's a pretty fun car to drive, but I can't wait until the old man gets his VR-4. That'll be nuts!!

Wish my old man would even consider buying a fast car...

My dad was skeptical of my GSX before I got it because he didn't know much about turbo chargers and never worked on a car that had one. I think some people are just skeptical of things they don't have experience with.

I would advise your dad not to buy a 3000GT VR4. I use to own a Stealth, and man, those cars are expensive to work on. Tell him to look at a WRX or something.

He has his heart set on the VR4 for sure. I can't change his mind at all. He loved his SL, so now he wants the VR4 without question. I'd like him to find something else, but it's his choice. I'll let him learn from it.
Tat, it's just as Andy said, my dad just didn't know about boosted cars. He was actually all about domestics. It was me who actually got him into imports. V8's were his thing for quite sometime, but he quickly converted after finding out how easy it is to work with Japanese cars. It was pretty cool. I don't think he'll ever go domestic again.

bring him over to my forum when he gets it. igovert500 has a very very good faq that he needs to look at once purchased, or better yet, before he purchases

a WRX isn't expensive in the first place compared to the vr4?
with the $10,000+ he's saving by going with a vr-4 he could afford to even buy a couple replacement engines on the side, much less fix anything that goes wrong with it.

Um, don't know about saving 10k buying a vr4. They are getting harder to find good ones, especially with lower mileage. You can expect to pay quite a bit for a nice one.
On top of that, ANYBODY who has experience owning/working/whatever on the two will tell you the parts are more expensive for the vr4, it's not as reliable, and the engine bay is MUCH more crowded. I'm not saying it is a bad car, I love mine, but it does come with its headaches as well. And I can understand why 2000ls1z28 would say that.

My dad wasn't very fortunate in searching for his VR-4 but he called me today and found another SL up in Salt Lake. It's a 98, 93K miles, Red, and it looks pretty damn sexy. No work has been done to the car, and it looks in stock form. The asking price is $9500. So, he went to look at it today. I think he really wants this car, he went to see it today.
More than likely tomorrow he is going to buy it. He really needs a car, so the chance is 90% that he'll take it. I'm going to see it with him tomorrow. That's the update for now.

93K is a lil' on the high side, and I think his price might be a tad on the high side... but either way best of luck...

Dude VR4's are a dime a dozen here in CA. Your dad could buy a 93 VR4 for $9K w/ less miles. I wouldn't go for that price at all.
