84 manual???

i have been trying to decode my rpo codes today and i have the codes ML8 and MM5 the places ive been says that means it had a 5 spd borg-warner tranny. its equipped with a auto right now....i thought it was made with the auto ..........is there a way to tell ( beside the codes) if it was originally a manual. i couldnt tell it had ever had one.
also im having some trouble decoding a few
FB8 FB9 GA3 GA4 1A3 11L 6DA 7DA 8PJ 9PJ C4E YE1 N0D its a little hard to tell if the "B" is a "8" or the "0" is a "O"......id appreciate if someone could help

Look at the firewall under the dash on the drivers side. There is a rod that goes down from the brake pedal bracket, and bolts to the firewall, to the left of that bolt, there would be a hole about an inch or so in diameter that a rod from the clutch pedal passes through to reach the clutch master cylinder. There may also be remnants of a clutch pedal bracket or the bolts that securred it to the firewall. left of this hole.

I belive 84 had 4spd trannies and some of them didnt have hydrolic clutch

i thought that 84 only had 4 spds too.........alot of my rpo codes confuse me. anyone have any brilliiant ideas?

In '84 they made both a five speed manual and four speed auto. A hydraulic clutch system was used in '84, but I think they used a mechanical system in '83, so there is a chance they used the mechanical system in some '84 cars, but I doubt it.
