This will be my first model since moving into the new apartment, so I decided to go for an R34. Ive been looking to find an r32 at my local hobby stores, but i can never find anything good, until i stumbled upon this gem. Unfortunatly, this is just a standard curbside, as i want to find a GT-R with engine detail (HKS Kansei is what im looking for....if anyone can help). I thought the spring set up for the suspension was really neat though. The paint scheme ive decided on is Tamiya Olive Drab, which should look pretty bad ass with the CF detail i plan on adding and the black wheels. I plan on taking my time with this model, so it might be two to possibly three weeks before i am finished, as i want to make this my best model to date. on to the pictures!!!!!!!

im going to need to find some 1000 grit sand paper, as im getting some blemishes in the paint already, but the paint is going on even and is my best experience with tamiya paint yet.

Looks sweet. I always thought Tamiya Olive Drab was a flat finish paint, never knew it had some gloss:) Looks good:thumbsup:

It has a semi-gloss finish, but i plan on using a Tamiya High Gloss clear coat on top of the olive drab, either that or a good polishing should give it that glassy look to it.

Tamiya Olive Drab, and the CF treatment you have instored for this model should look pretty sweet.

Olive Drab... Sweet! I don't think I've seen a Skyline in that color yet, so I will definitly be following this build. Let's get some detail shots of the suspension, eh?

Interesting colour. I've seen the real car doing some mean laps at Tsukuba on DVD.

im working on the suspension right now, doing some Kei Office coilovers with endless calipers. im working on some custom sway bars, so im looking for some undercarraige shots of an r34.

Camo r-34?
Thats a lot of over spray you get there but the paint is great!

thats because each time i added a new coat, i moved the body peices to a different part on the table, because id pick it up, wet sand it, then put it back down in a different spot
heres some progress on the suspension/chassis. started making a custom rear anti sway bar, and front sway bar...no pics of the front though, just the rear. both are going to be painted blue - cusco style :D. front and rear traction bars are also a possibility, but well get to that later. custom exhaust will be made tomorrow when i can head to the hobby shop and get some more expoxy putty, a sheet of styrene and styrene tubes.
Test fit of rear sway bar.

shot of the undercarraige so far. as you can see im not the master with the camera since i dont have too much light in the house. im also not the greatest at the detail painting on the underbody, but that doesnt matter too much.

i might try and squeeze another quarter inch out of the suspension and get that unltra low/high camber look.
yes :D the hood is raised, and i plan on keeping it that way .

yea i stripped it. i had a problem glue marks showing up where i glued the body, so i stripped the paint using mineral spirits which also gave it a surface prep, used nail polish remover over the areas with the super glue, and then sanded 4 or 5 times.

Holy Crap that's a lot of paint, different colour idea, but I'll wait till it's finshed before saying I don't like it as I have often been suprised with colours when finished.
