Faster Auto Acceleration

All the guys that have automatic cars at my school say that if you start in 1st then hit 2nd and then put it in drive you will get faster acceleration.... Is this a load of BS or what? It can't be good on the tranny.

I've seen guys try that at the track, leaving it in drive and just letting the computer sort it out seems to give them better times all the time.
A friend of ours did that crap on his auto 3000GT, then I ran it by just leaving it in drive and not letting off the gas and ran like 3/10 faster.
dont try torque-braking or neutral dropping either, My wife killed our first eclipse this way!

torque breaking is perfectly fine to do so as long as #1 you dont hold it down for more than 5 seconds, and #2, give a few minutes cool down between times of doing it. I mean, how do you think i launch my car? lol
Anyways, no that won't make a difference in acceleration. To get optimal acceleration, reset your ECU by simply disconnecting the negative terminal from your battery, go grab a cold one, come back 10 minutes later and hook the battery back up. It will reset the shift points to where they should be, then make sure you are on PWR and not Economy mode. Before you reset the battery, if you have the factory radio, make sure you have the code for it.

What does power and economy mode do? Cuz either way when i floor it the shift point is 6.5k.

You know though for some reason on mine, I get a better time at the track in econo-mode. I think its the 9bs' falling off the closer I get to redline. I know... I know.... I need bigger turbos...... All in due time hehe
