1993 Probe starter removal

My son has a 1993 Probe and we suspect that the starter is bad. I have looked into removing it but hit a hurdle when the top bolt appears to be only slightly accessible. Any tricks to getting to this starter easier? Something I should remove first? Special tool required?

really just remove your intake
