installing factory tach

my car has no tach, but i'd like to intall one.... i've seen JDM sprinters with tachs in the instrument console... i can get that whole console from the junkyard, but i have no idea how to install it....and what i have to do under the hood....so please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
