95 Century wont start

Driving down the road in my 95 century. Went to stop and it stalled. No big surprise it had done it plenty before. I usually would throw it in park or neutral and it would fire right back up. This time I got nothing. No rolling over, clicking, or anything. Dash lights dont even come on. wont jump start and 2 days later i still have a good battery charge. No nothing about cars. HELP!!!

I checked my terminals and all of my grounds. Still no luck. Someone told me its probably the alternator. Is that likely? Are there any other possibilities. Could it be something in my ignition because absolutely nothing happens when i turn the key forward or back. My headlights and all of that still works. I NEED MY CAR!

It could be in the ignition but check the following. 1. Check the connection under the black cover at the power control center under the hood. Make sure this it tight. 2. Check the connections to the stater. There may be a bad connection or burnt fusable link. If everything looks good then try to jump across the starter terminals. If the car turns over it is possible that the ignition switch has failed. The alternator really doesn't sound like the culprit in this case especially since you have a charged battery.

If all else fails remove the wire from the back of the alternator and try to start the car. If it is the problem then the car should start right up. Sometimes if they short out they can cause all kinds of problems.

By the way, does your car have a security system? If so that may be the entire cause of your problem. I don't know if the century is the same as the Grand Am but if it is you can reset the system. Search the Grand Am forum for the procedure.

I would sometimes stall when coming to a stop, and also occationally loose acceleration when driving up hills. Three mechanics and a year of off-highway driving later: turned out to be the fuel injection system. When it finnally stalled in the shop, the fuel pump was dry. Regularly mixing gas with a fuel injector cleaner solved it.
