Ram Air Hood WS6??

Hey Guys,

1st post here so take it easy.

I've recently purchased a 98, and was looking to get a ram air hood. I've seen two styles the WS6 and one called a "Raptor Style". What, if any are the differences between these two? I also see that there is a WS6 package, wheels, and emblems.

I was wondering if you guys had some advice, on which was better, performance wise and such. I've seen plenty of pictures on-line, and have seen the WS6 up close, but have not seen a Raptor style hood up close.

Is it more of a choice of style or is there an actual difference.

unless you are planning on making the hoods functional, its just a matter of personal opinion on which one works better. I myself am planning on getting a functional WS6 hood this coming summer

I am planning on making it functional, so are you saying the WS6 is the better of the two for this purpose? I thought I read somewhere that both were functional, but I may be mistaken.

I believe the air box is like 266 and change that is the cheapest i've found. with the hood being like 699. So yeah I may be waiting a while to get mine too.

Raptor hood < WS.6 hood

The raptor hood is much more aggressive in appearance, but if its not functional then the ws6 hood is much much better.

lol, math buddy. < = less than. Raptor hood is less than (not as good) as the WS.6 hood.

I think the cowl is the same, or really close anyways.
I also believe both are functional. The height of the cowl wouldn't make any performance difference.

Yeah, it looks exactly like the firehawk hood. I'm not sure if it is or not. I know the dimensions wouldn't make any difference, from the pictures I've seen it just looks like the WS.6 is a little bigger.

I've also seen somewhere some "recreation" hood, that is like 279.00. I don't think I want to go that way though, If I'm going to spend almost 300, why not just spend another 300 and get the real thing?

Oh, no offense taken. If I sounded that way I don't mean too. I'm sorry you felt that I was upset with that comment. You know it's hard to tell what someone is saying and how they are saying it online. But it did make me think maybe i'm not that good of a teacher!

That other one is just the stock Ram Air hood from 93-97.

Yeah man, if I were you I'd go with that Raptor hood. It looks pretty sick.

I just found out that a new company has bought US Exotics mold for the WS9 hood, and may be or could be making those. I believe these hoods have the heat extractors.

Those are WS.6 hoods with the Firehawk heat extractors.
I half considered one a while back. Then I realized, I have much better things to do with $800.

I dont know, I like the line going across the hood that seperates the holes into 4, I think it just looks better. So WS.6>Firehawk
