moderately true? don't risk it, the tool will retain the springs when they are compressed to avoid having them spring away.

The tool looks like a big crimp/or vice type device...you put it on the coil, and use its lever/knob to compress the sping alittle so the sping wont go BOOOOING..
And yes, it will kill you if you get a direct blast to the face-seriously. Another thing i heard of, is that most window motors have a wound up spring inside, and if taken apart...BOOOOING...
Go to autozone, they should have that tool you want.

the tool couldn't be more than 25 bucks to rent from the auto parts chains. that is cheap work for a shop, but you could do it yourself cheaper.

If you are inexperienced and don't know exactly what you are doing this could be a bad idea. If you insist on doing it yourself I strongly suggest that you get someone who could help and make sure that everything is safe. You don't want to risk injury.

Don't forget, it will need an alignment also if you change the struts.

last year at my school somebody was messing around with the springs and it shot off and hit him in the jaw shattering his jaw and bottem teeth.
