I think you know the answer to that. A Chrysler LeBaron GTC with the common block Turbo II. One of the most solid four bangers out there.

Probably the engine out of the R6 street bike.
A 0.6L with 130 horsepower and a redline at 15,500. That's awesome right there.

Porsche 968 Turbo.
very weird engine, 3.0l V4! (cutted 928 engine)
RPS13 180/200SX CA18-DET.
often underestimated, cut-off RB26 engine with an very durable iron block.
the OM 615 and OM 616 engines of the Mercedes W123.
will last at least 500.000 mls, if the oil is changed in due time.
mine's got 155.000 mls now. there are a lot of cab drivers in germany having over 1.000.000 mls, no joke.
There's a W123 in the Mercedes Museum, Stuttgart, with over 2.800.000mls.
that's a reliable engine.
edit: oh, and the driver was a greek cab driver. he gave it to the museum to have a glorious grave for it. mercedes donated a new C200 CDI for him :)

Porsche 968 Turbo.
very weird engine, 3.0l V4! (cutted 928 engine)
The 968 used a 3.0L I-4, not a V-4.
You have your timeline backwards as well. The 928 startes as 2 924 engines put together with a common crank, but after the initial development, engine develpoment continued somewhat independently of each other. By the end of the run of the 928, it was much different than what came in the 968.

On a recent bike trip I encountered a club of Saab 90 owners. They have a neat little 1.7L V4. They are a ford engine and have a few parts in common with the 302; like rods, mains, valves. They also have the 302's bore with something like a 2.3" stroke. Little screamers. That might be my new favorite 4. My other favorite 4 is the 750-cc V4 in Honda Magna bikes. Just coincidence that they're both Vs.

I would say the 3rd gen 3s-gte bad ass little motor even better in the awd celica. That or a 2.5rs with pretty damn quick all motor and can get a turbo kit pretty easy. And last off either that or any honda K-series(bad ass motor when it comes to bolt on), H-series bad ass fucking motor, or any B-series everything is damn close to being universal.

My favorites include:
1. H22A or any varient of it.-Prelude
2.Any K-Series engine.-Already proven to respond well to mods, and still a new motor. Personal fav.-K24 with the VTEC head/K24 out of the TSX.
3.B-series-TONS of aftermarket support.
4.4G63- Been in production FOREVER, and still kicking Turbo ass.
But if I had to pic ONE favorite, it would defanetly be the H22 powered Prelude.

Oh hell, I'll be the first to tell you that I'm biased towards Hondas considering I own one, and my parents own three. But there are alot of engines besides Hondas that are better. I forgot to ad the SR20DET to the list, thats a pretty potent powerplant.
Point is, yeah, I like Hondas, And thats why I listed mostly Hondas.

you think the honda racing thing would give it away, im not biassed but i have preferences and some companies i completely dislike have have cars that i want. Such as ford i wouldn mind owning an 05gt or the 07 gt500 but my personal favorite would be the f-250 or f-350 turbo diesel 6.0, so much power its not even funny. but other than that ford doesnt have much to offer to me. tha after that any honda, nissan, toyota, some mitsu's some chevy's and it all depends on the year and the model. Cant stand those straight up domestic guys "get a v8 you pussy" yeah thats why this little as 1.6/ sohc vtec turbo can kick your ass. but hey everyone has preferences no 2 people wil be the same.

1. Chrysler 2.6L long block in the Conquest/Starion, fast, super durable, easy to turbo, the aftermarket is out there you just havent took enough time to find it. Very, very unsung 4 banger.
2. B16, B18, B20, H22 :smokin: All over the place, cheap JDM motors with enough potential to fill Al Roker's stomach :lol2: I personally like them un-turboed, it's fun to see how far you can push them w/o forged induction. Not including K20, K24, both bitchen motors, but too expensive not as much of a following.
3. KA24 out of my pickup. Ive put over 300,000 miles on it and the internals still go like the day they were made. So much torque vs. the weight of the pickup. Not to mention 32 mpg with K&N air filter and bulldog chip. In my opinion the best 4 cyl pickup motor ever made. You 240 owners mostly have an entirely different opinion on the KA24.:thefinger

My Mom had an 80 Toyota Corona that she used for comutting. It had the 20R truck motor, i think it was like 1800 cc's. I bought the car from her in 85. I really liked the car . I liked to stomp on the accelerator and hear the induction sound from the carb as the motor would wind out through all the gears ( automatic trans) . I sold it with 90k miles on it and it ran like new. The only maint was oil and filter at 4k miles, air filter, brakes the usuall. oh and also torque the head gasket every 10 k as stated in the shop manual. I sold it to a neighbor for his son, who started in try to kill the car from day one, finally at 190 k miles the headgasket went...they did no maint, nothing just added oil...i could hear the car screaming from my house. Anyway real fun car even though the doors were like an inch thick.

The 20R was a great engine, hell still is. There are companies that sell 20R crate motors, especially to the 4X4 crowd. One of my top 5 4bangers, a great engine.

thats a pretty extensive list. I think I'm still going to stick with a 4g63 6 bolt 2.3L stroker

id just have to say the 4G63 motor in general
2.0 liter, iron block...no variable valve timing, and on boost it still makes 270some horsepower right out of the box
impressive package?
i think so

1995 Honda accord EX with F22 Vtec 2.2i engine. Nothing spectacular about, but the car was really balanced and it was my first ride. With 180k miles car had EVERYTHING original including engine, transmission and electronics. Everything worked in the car and during the last tune up Midas people couldn't find anything wrong with it. In addition to everything above car was still able to get to 125MPH, although it would take a while. I trully regret selling it, I thought that with 180k miles car doesn't have a lot of life left.

Gotta go with GM's Quad4 DOHC for this one, hands down.
My experience with the Quad4 was great - never had a head gasket issue or really anything other than an alternator and an ignition coil go on me. It got me through 53,000 miles and two and a half years of college reliably.
This engine would flat out go - the only four cylinder I was ever able to spin wheels with...

Sorry, but I don't/won't drive Japanese cars. That's a personal preference, not knocking anyone that does, mind you.
And to be able to burn out with a four banger in a heavy American car says a lot more than being able to burn out in a lighter weight import.

We have a genius on our hands. If you know how to drive spinning tires is easy in anything, i could get my 1.6 corolla to burn its tires easy and it was an auto. Weight has very few influence on how weell you can burn tires, its more or less the power curve of the motor. IE: its easier to burn tires with a 4.3 in an s10 than it is with a 2.8 even though the 4.3 is heavier than the 2.8 and there both RWD. STrange huh now FWD i could burn out my corolla easier than my v6 buick with a 3800 fast car but low end torque on it was non existent. Just because it lighter doesnt make it faster.

Most Honda 4 cyls.
GM LSJ and Quad 4
Saturn 1.9L DOHC
Ford Zetec
Nissan SR20, KA24, and the 2.5

I find it hard to believe that it's easier for you spin tires in an auto 1.6 Corolla than a 3800 powered Buick. I don't know what you consider low-end but the 3800 makes something like no less than 90% of it's peak torque between 2000 and 6000 rpms, and even at 90% it's making roughly twice the torque the Corolla is. I have driven many a Corolla and many a 3800 powered car and from my experience it has been much easier to spin tires with a 3800 even if you're not really trying to.

Dude i drive the damn buick everyday, its has some power quite a bit for a car from 91 with 240k miles on it but i had the corolla with and intake and the buick has the same intake modified to fit and the corolla could light them up easier, the buick will hold it a lot longer. Im talking about holding the parking brake and letting them spin. Buick has a damn pedal p-brake and the corolla has a hand brake, buick will spin and then start dragging the tires corolla would sit there and spin and for a few second off the brake then it would go. No doubt the buick can spin its ass off the line hell i beat a dodge rumble bee by 3 cars with it (it was well maintained my grandmother drove it, and my blazer is on jackstands).
SHO you are right it does spin of the line a hell of a lot easier but most of the power i see in this car is bewteen 2750-4k rpm and it redlines at 5.5k.

Ok cool, I was assuming it was a Series II 3800 (L36) which is a bit different than the series I. With all the details I see what you were saying.
