No issues I'm aware of. I think the design was the same both years.

obd1 and obd2 I know of no changes in the motor but i'd asume wiring changes. I've never changed obd wiring on a jeep.

Frist off to all thanks for the replies, and for this great place
to read.AUTOMOTIVEFORUMS.COM is the best..

To post #2 Fredjacksonsan Thanks..The injection system on the 1995
is a little different from the injection system on the 1997.The
fule pressure regulator on the 95 is on the fule rale. The fule pres
sure regulator on the 97 is on or in the gas tank.As far as the
overall engine block and head I still don,t know.I,ve heard 50/50
reviews. If the intake on my 97 will bolt to the 95 on this matter
I see no problems.Thank you..

To post #3 Ace$nyper Thanks..I,am aware of the obd1 and the obd2
problem. If the distributor on the 97 will install into the 95.Will
that work?If so won,t that take care of wiring changes? Thank you.

Once again before I start this project any and all input will be
the best I,am sure. Thanks to all

I dont know about the emissions laws in Barton Illinois where you live, but in most states this swap would be entirely illegal.

Many states have emissions statutes that state:

The replacement engine must be the of the same year or newer than that of the engine being removed and replaced. The replacement engine must also be completely untampered with, emissions wise. It must retain ALL factory emissions equipment, and must also use the factory wiring harness, and ECU.

You also did not mention whether or not both vehicles were Automatic or Manual. If not the same, there will be yet more work involved in making the engine and tranny communicate correctly. I would suggest swapping the entire engine, tranny, and transfercase if you are intent on doing this swap.
